01Common questions
Why is the rate different from my bank's?
RateStack shows reference market rates. Banks, bureaus, and transfer services add their own margin. To convert at the rate you actually get, add a personal rate: touch and hold a currency row, then choose Set Custom Rate.
Does RateStack work offline?
Yes. RateStack converts with the last rates it downloaded. The freshness line on the main screen shows when they were updated.
Can I do math before converting?
Yes. The keypad is a calculator. Type something like 250 + 75, and every row converts the result as you type.
How do I copy a converted amount?
Touch and hold a currency row, then choose Copy Amount or Copy with Currency.
What is the Parallel Market source?
An optional source with unofficial street rates for the Nigerian naira, Argentine peso, and Venezuelan bolívar. Other currencies keep official rates. Choose it in Settings > Rate Source.
Which currency do widgets convert from?
US dollars by default. To change it, go to Settings > Widgets > Base Currency. The Control Center control has its own From currency.
My rate alert didn't arrive.
Check that notifications are allowed for RateStack in the iPhone Settings app. Alerts are checked when rates refresh, so delivery depends on how often iOS lets RateStack refresh in the background.
